about

As 2022 draws to its close, Alexandrina returns to the studio with her latest release, the pandemic seclusion-inspired, Sirin. The four-track Ep, released November 15, 2022, sees Alexandrina honing her production with a stylistic departure from the more piano-driven output of her earlier album work. An English-language release, Sirin is introduced by its eponymous track, a 4+ minute journey of rising tension and urgency. The Eps' lead single, Magnetic Eyes, provides an infectious slice of dream pop ripped straight from the Twin Peaks roadhouse. Black Magic then casts its spells through percussive stabs and melody-led House into a coming-of-age vibe of determined empowerment. Animal Power rounds out the Sirin experience. Perhaps the release’s most playful track, Animal Power, elicits the deepest depths of the underground, at home equally within the colored, poster-plastered walls of a Berlin squat as it emanating from speakers of world's most forward-thinking theatrical spaces.

As a sum of its parts, Sirin is a complete musical narrative where the highs and lows of a twenty-year career come full circle. Embracing her singer-songwriter roots and the mythological origins of its namesake, albeit with eyes set firmly on the now, Sirin is a stylistic collage of everything that has come before. From the piano-laden early albums to the alternative pop single, Dupa pod (2016), the synthy embellishments of Second Bliss (2019), or the dreamlike yearning of Vânt în pânze (2021) Sirin blends it all, playful and maturely.
